2012 Kororareka Festival will run over the whole weekend, kicking off on Saturday 10 March with a full day of fun and activities, stalls & races and Sunday 11 March  March for the raising of the flag on Maiki Hill.

7am at Maiki Hill    Official Ceremony to mark Te Pakanga o Kororareka / The Battle of Kororareka. All welcome!

Hone Heke Run course

Hone Heke Run

The Hone Heke Run is a fun event held in Russell during the Festival of Kororareka.  The event is approximately 2.5 km long and starts at Haratu on the Russell Kororareka waterfront.  Runners run to the historic flagstaff, Whakakotahitanga at the top of Maiki hill, then run back down again on the waterfront.
